YOUR HEALTH IS WORTH IT

Pilates

Pilates is a core focused, body toning and strengthening fitness activity developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century in Germany. It was originally developed as a method of strengthening for the body as well as the mind and is still regarded to do so today.

Pilates uses a system of specific movements to engage and activate chosen muscles and muscles groups to develop and increase flexibility, tone, strength and endurance. Pilates emphasizes spinal and pelvic alignment as well as its defined breathing techniques. Pilates is very unique from other regimes of exercise in the sense that a single movement has the ability to be modified to suit a beginner, intermediate or expert level of fitness. Pilates focuses on smooth movements and flow. This allows client to achieve lengthening and toning of the muscles.

Pilates is regarded very highly at Kinetic Physiotherapy for its use as a treatment assistant for clients suffering from core instability, neck and/or back pain, hip and/or pelvis misalignment and/or pain as well as any other ailment stemming from lack of strength or instability.

Pilates can be done on a mat, a reformer, chair, barre and barrel. Our Pilates classes follow the instruction of STOTT PILATES methods. Kinetic Physiotherapy offers its clients 3 qualified STOTT Pilates instructors who are trained in the original methods of Pilates formed by Joseph Pilates. We offer both mat and reformer options for group or private classes.
